Story Sandbox: A Mythopoetic Workshop

We are made of story.

Sages say we must discover the myth we’re living before we can do anything about it.

Isn’t that also the case for fictional characters?

If you or your characters have deep aspirations for leaving a meaningful mark, this unique approach will crack open your story to reveal new angles from which to envision an impactful path forward.

Whether fact or fiction, this evolving course offers transformative insight and collective wisdom through the healing power of storytelling.

In one three-hour, three-part session, participants will engage in practices offering mold-breaking perspectives on the biographical or literary catharsis they seek. Interweaving ancient mythological teachings and novel approaches to workshopping narrative, this intensive provides a safe container for experimentation and discovery.

For our purposes, participants may approach utilizing these techniques for their personal or fictional story. You might speak about yourself as a character or speak about your character as yourself.

This course is intended for anyone who wants to awaken potential and level up via healing communication.

Facilitator BIO:

Drawing from the visions produced by his atypical sight and neurodivergence, audiovisual storymaker Wilson B. Stiner has navigated liminal spaces as an artist and filmmaker since he could put pen to paper. Translating the ineffable through various forms where artistic expression and technology meet, his work has been presented in exhibition, on screens of all sizes, and in VR goggles. Exploring themes of identity and the line between fantasy and reality, his motion picture-centered communications leverage a Socratic approach to expanding possibilities within the viewer.

After fifteen years creating agency, studio, independent, and experimental work in Los Angeles, he is two years into ATLien living. Over his time here, he directed a call-to-action on saving the Weelaunee Forest with The Center for Biological Diversity, had his first Atlanta premiere at the 25th Anniversary of Videodrome, directed a Mvskoke artist profile which won best documentary at its festival premiere, traveled to Peru for a piece on Shipibo reciprocity, and is currently incubating a feature epic with Push Push.
